Introducing “The Bead Board” from Bearfoot Art!!!
One of my “must haves” that I want to share with you. It is durable, lightweight, and useful in so many ways.
I use my bead board for making sets with Scott’s lampwork beads, for designing two and three strand bracelets, and for laying out designs for multiple bracelets at once. I also use it to put pinches of beads on that I want to work with and not have them roll all over my table. We also bring them to our shows for customers to pick out loose lampwork beads and lay out their own designs on the spot. This makes it much easier for them to pick cohesive beads and see their vision for their design. This way they don’t have to lay them out in their hand or on your table. This makes “The Bead Board” useful for all of you, the beadmaker and the jewelry designer.
Many bead boards on the market are made of plastic making them more fragile for travel. With our bead board, that would not be an issue. Plus, its small size makes it great for holding beads on your lap or for those times when you don’t have the counter space for your larger bead board. I still use and like the larger plastic bead boards, but there are many times when this small wooden one suits my needs much better.
The wood is hemlock and has a nice soft feel to the touch. I often use more than one of these bead boards at a time when laying out many bracelet designs or making a lot of lampwork bead sets. These boards are especially great for making lampwork bead sets because the size of the grooves make it such that your beads can stand upright more easily. This allows you to see the bead widths and designs which will enable you to more easily make very cohesive sets.
A tip from Mo: Since I usually use the same size of clasps for my bracelets, I have made marks on my Bead Board to show how long my design should be before I need to add the crimps and clasp. You could also glue a small ruler onto your board or use a pen and make the marks right on the board.
It is simple, and yes you could probably make one yourself, but why when we’ve already made one for you. Why go through the hassle. Get yours today! You’ll be glad you did.
