Bearfoot Art is a home-based business of glass beadmaking and jewelry design. Scott is the beadmaker, tool-maker, videographer, and photographer, and Monica designs jewelry, designs the website, and handles all of the business details. They have built their business and lives around being able to stay at home together with their two sons.
Scott Bouwens has been making lampwork beads since 1998. He has been selling them full-time since the year 2000. His work has been featured in various books and magazines.  He uses Effetre and Vetrofond glass and is known for the colors he creates from using fine silver leaf in his beads. He sells his work at bead shows around the USA and also sells from his website and eBay. Scott is the inventor and creator of the Electric Mandrel Spinner, Rolling Marver, and more great tools for lampworkers.  Scott studied Landscape Design and Commuications at Washington State University.  Since then he had a business of designing custom fiberglass water features, dabbled in construction, and was a Union Carpenter.  He is an inventor/hobbyist at heart and is always tinkering with new ideas.  His love of science and art come together nicely for him in this field.
Monica has been making jewelry professionally for over twelve years now.  She has a BA in Marketing and a minor in Art from The University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA.  Monica also spent a semester abroad studying art in Florence, Italy.  She then went on to study wildlife photography at The Rocky Mountain School of Photography.  Soon after, Monica started working at a bead store in Wenatchee, WA.  The Sun Dog Bead Company.  She was hooked.  Monica became the manager of the store and also taught some of the classes.  Scott and Monica moved to Everett, WA in 1998 and went forward with Bearfoot Art.
